I have started a new thread about the JD-Xi now as here we are slightly off-topic. ;)

Pro's and Con's of the Roland JD-Xi

Here is a good video that sums it up, for me the pro's definitely prevail which is why I bought one the day they became available over 2 years ago (and still own it and use it a lot): uUB9QDhwFZI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUB9QDhwFZI And here is a great track made entirely with the JD-Xi with ...

Re: KORG Minilogue

Well if you didn't like the FA keybed, then you definitely won't like the JD-Xi keybed. But as I said the keybed of the JD-Xi should be merely seen as a means to enter notes into the step sequencer (or to play a few chords for real time recording into the sequencer), not as a live performance keyboa...

Re: KORG Minilogue

Would absolutely LOVE a JD-Xi! Wonder if Roland would like to "lend" me one for a while ;) DIdn't you already have a FA-06 or 08 on loan? The Supernatural synth engine of the JD-Xi is the same as the FA (actually on the FA you have more multi-timbrality), so you should already have a good idea how ...

Re: KORG Minilogue

I'm more your lush pads and cinematic type of person Me too, that's why I'm in love with the Roland JD-Xi, it's packed with Roland's famous lushness for a price that I couldn't resist. The Minilogue OTOH leaves me cold, quite literally as I find that it sounds rather cold and harsh most of the time.

Re: The Cat Thread

I'm sorry to hear that Miks. I can understand how you feel, when out cat did not come back home one day we were very affected by it too, luckily in our case she came back after 3 days, totally starved and shaken, somebody must have accidentally locked her in a garage or shed.

Re: 14 New Products From Roland and Boss in May and June

The interesting date will be the 20th of June: 2 new synthesizer products

My wish would be a desktop version of the JD-XA

Re: R.I.P Robert Miles

I was sad too when I heard this, his melodic trance tracks got me interested in trance music and mid 90's to early 2000's trance is still my favourite type music (of course I like other music too, but I keep going back to trance from that period). OTOH I can't stand trance music from the last 10 yea...

Re: A little MORE of this Sh1t, anyone?

Sorry, I just don't buy the argument that you must stick together just because there are children about (and use money as the blocker). I didn't say "must stick together" but only make divorce with children harder (not impossible) and also I didn't say money should be a blocker but that it shouldn'...

Re: A little MORE of this Sh1t, anyone?

So broken homes may be a cause in some cases, but not all. Of course in your case (and in any other comparable case) divorce was the far lesser evil, there is no question about that, but on the other hand there are many divorces that only happen because the woman is 'bored' and she knows she'll be ...

Re: A little MORE of this Sh1t, anyone?

It's not so much the lack of discipline, it's the lack of a father role for way too many children growing up without a father that causes lack of respect for authority. Too many broken families caused by way too much bias in favour of women during divorce proceedings. Divorce should be the very last...

Re: Yamaha CS80 clone "Deckard’s Dream"

I think the kit price is quite reasonable for what you are getting (an 8 voice poly analog synth inspired by the CS80 with tons of hands-on control), of course the kit will mean that you need to invest many dozens of hours into building it yourself but that's why I said it's perfect for somebody ret...

Yamaha CS80 clone "Deckard’s Dream"

Available as a DIY kit or pre-assembled: 8O http://www.deckardsdream.com/ The DIY kit sounds like a perfect project for somebody who's retired with plenty of time and good soldering skills (I wish that was me, both the retired part and the soldering skills). http://www.deckardsdream.com/wp-content/u...

Re: Why is the majority of TV programming still SD?

While we're both on our PCs - TV is background "noise" which I actually hate . ENDLESS reruns of Bullseye, Pointless and "Millionaire". I actually bought a pair of ear defenders to wear (when I'm NOT trying to do Music Stuff with Reaper) which gives me a break . . . . Does you TV not have an 'off' ...
