Re: Hello everybody

Hello and welcome. If you like the DX7II (my first poly synth), you will love the SY77 or SY99! :D

Re: sy.factory Problems

Hi, Henri I have double checked taking out CoreMIDI4J from the V3.11 package and installing it in /Library/Java/Extensions, and, as expected, sy.factory is fine with that. Note since 3.10 where CoreMIDI4J was embedded in the package, then sy.factory expects it, and will not run correctly without it ...

Re: DX7 MK2 Perfomance to SY Series 2AFM?

Hi,

If you tried opening a DX7 file using File/Open in sy.factory then it would be an unknown file. sy.factory has a batch importer for DX7 and DX7II voices on the tools menu, but it is only available to registered users.

Re: sy.factory Problems

Hi, Henri There was a bug with saving SYSEX files, which was fixed in 3.11. If it is just voices you are interested in, you can use regular TNN or JNN files to save voice data. TGG77 voices are the same as SY77 voices, but Multis have an additional message with extra data in. If you wish to try 3.11...

Re: sy.factory Problems

Hi, Henri That is interesting, but there has been no change in MIDI Comms for quite a few years, other than of course me writing CoreMIDI4J as a modern alternative to MMJ, but if you have downloaded and installed the latest CoreMIDI4J (0.9) then that is what is in the sy.factory package! Basically t...

RIP Allan Holdsworth

Another tragic loss, along with John Wetton recently (Both of whom played in U.K.)

Re: DX7 MK2 Perfomance to SY Series 2AFM?

Hi, Daryl sy.factory converts DX7 voices and DX7II performances/voices to SY format. :D Or as close as it can given the differences in architectures. The big difference is that operator rate scaling is very different between the two architectures and it is impossible to accurately replicate the DX7 ...

Re: sy.factory Problems

Hi, Henri Which version of sy.factory on 10.10.5? Good spot on that delete bug, the funny thing is that I realised yesterday when writing my responses to you explaining insert behaviour that I probably wasn't accounting for it and put it on my list to check. Insert behaviour is fine as it is, as tha...

Re: sy.factory Problems

Hi, Henri It is interesting that this makes it better, if not perfect. Even if we do not have the foggiest idea as to why! I am sorry that you feel that way, but I can understand if it is not working for you. I would like to solve it if I can, but need something more to go on, which may be tough to ...

Re: sy.factory Problems

Hi, Henri If you download the archived version of sy.factory (link given in an earlier post) and install MMJ, then you could try that copy of sy.factory on the older computers to try it out. Functionality wise the archive version has about 96% of the features of the new version (WaveBlade support be...

Re: sy.factory Problems

Hi, Henri Spent a few hours on this this morning My setup is OS X 10.12.4. Note I have been developing on OS X since Lion, and have never detected an issue down to OS, and in the distant past (when I developed on PC), I loaned a MAC off of JIMA to test compatibility - this was about 2007/2008, and i...

Re: Begging for ROMS

That's great news, and I am glad you achieved what you wanted. It shows what still can be done with this range of older synths with a bit of detective work.

I've been following this thread quietly as I dont have a need for this, but it has still been very interesting to follow. :)
