Re: SY85: Installation of a 720KB USB Floppy Emulator

The ProPiano itself is a joy to use when loaded into the Non-Vol RAM - and it's great when you switch on next time, that it's still there - and ready to go . .

Re: SY85: Installation of a 720KB USB Floppy Emulator

The Manual says it will take two 1Mb Simms. I have Two 4Mb Simms in mine. Opinion seems to be that they should be non-parity type 80ns. (in any case, the pair should be the same type). Memory was stupidly expensive back in the day (4mb - £120) so not too many bothered - same with the non-vol . . . S...

Re: SY85: Installation of a 720KB USB Floppy Emulator

I think you'll be happier in the long run fixing the drive . . . The usb emulators require various operational oddities in order to function - such as REMEMBERING NOT to use the boards formatting function on the usb stick, and there's a strange double-shuffle you have to do when changing disk images...

Re: SY85: Installation of a 720KB USB Floppy Emulator

Hi SM, As I said in my earlier post, these usb retrofits are a minefield for many reasons. You could try a search on the model number mentioned - and SEE if anyone has successfully installed one - apart from that, it's very much buy it and try it I'm afraid . . . [ I just did a search, and it found ...

Re: Korg X5D Key Not Sounding

Hi Jamar, and welcome to the forums . . . I had this problem with a recent acquisition, My Fusion 6HD . . . It's not a Korg, but superficially, the keyswitches pretty much work in the same way . . . Here's what I found. The pics might help? http://promusicproducts.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=13...

Re: AfterGlow

Well Derek, I've remixed it again and put it in the original post - and think it is definitely better. Calmed the Snare down - and actually, the whole kit. Smoothed out a few "spikes" in the vocals, and generally re-balanced it all again. Took the choir down a bit too. Problem is, you can get to the...

Re: AfterGlow

Have to agree on both counts Derek . . . I've not heard Xanadu for a long while - I must revisit that, but it's on vinyl . . . probably in the roof . . . And Los Endos . . . well, probably the Best "closing" track for a gig ever, not to say a great encore too . . . Steve Howell did the Polymoog Vox ...

Re: Using standard MIDI files

Yeah Mike,

I had a quick look at the Manual the other night and I THOUGHT I saw a mention of XG compatability, - certainly, I remember Midi Type 0 files too . .

Interesting about the "locked" midi files though - wasn't aware of that nice workaround (Y)

Nice one!

Re: RE: Keyboard Protective Dust Cover

The Fender Rhodes is a bit of a special beast when it comes to covers - due to it's profile/shape. It needs something like this: https://www.vintagevibe.com/collections/fender-rhodes-lids?variant=899450907 But they are incredibly expensive. My Fusion 8HD has simpler needs (simpler shape) so my Partn...

Re: AfterGlow

Thanks Derek - Your're probably right about the snare - a tad heavy, but I guess I was thinking of Phil being PHIL on the Live versions, and really "going for it" . . . . The High Hat was the best one I've found so far - the others I've tried being rather "weedy" in comparison . . . perhaps need to ...

Re: Midi dgx 660

Yeah grimep - 60 quid - but a "good spend" for what it gives IMO . . . If you are hoping your little lad might "learn the Piano" then, as close to a Piano as possible is good . . . . The Bells and whistles can come later - so to speak . . . When I was working at the Uni. I used to Support Mac too, a...

Re: Midi dgx 660

Hi grimep - and welcome to the forums . . . I can't comment on iPad interfacing - as I don't own one, but I would urge you to consider adding the Yamaha LP7 Pedal unit . . https://www.rimmersmusic.co.uk/yamaha-lp7-black-pedal-unit-for-yamaha-dgx650-dgx660-keyboard-p2521 The supplied small FC5 (£31) ...
