BTW... on March 19 2012 I e-mailed musitronics asking if the 5 MB expansion for the SY99 is still available. This is the answer they replied one! day later:

Hallo,
Zur Zeit leider nein, zu geringes Intresse.
MfG
O. Schwarz, musitronics

Translation:

Hello,
sorry, not at the moment, there's too little interest.
Regards
O. Schwarz, musitronics

Any comments? 8O

For the past two years I have contacted them numerous times via email, I tried to buy one and was told they were unavailable, I asked again a few months later and got no reply, a few weeks later was told they were sold out and had no plans to produce any more, asked again and wanted to know if we could show them enough guranteed sales (much like we did for Alexander Publishing for the SY77 Cookbook) if they would produce a run of them-no response, offered to purchase the schematics, etc. and rights-no answer, asked again if they were available-no answer. I can only surmise that they feel it is not profitable to make any more of the expansions and that they currently have no plans to ever do so.

Exact my thought regarding the 'money'-thing. But if they aren't interested anymore, why not offer the schematics to other people who want to take this project in their own hands? That's what I don't really understand... :?

But I'm not giving up hope that we're on a good way here and finally will succeed with
this project one fine day...

Let's keep the SY alive!

Exactly Miks! I feel like I tried to do the right with Musitronics and they had no interest either way in moving along. As well, it's very hard to find an uninstalled one available on eBay, etc. and I really don't want to pursue buying another SY99 with the expansion installed. I have seen so many good results come out of the discussions on these forums (like the Sector101 products) that I'm confident that we will find a good solution for the SY99 ram expansion.

Yeah, I'm fully with you, Clyde. As soon as ilmenator received his eprom-programmer he will be able to create a file with the datas from the SY EX-ROM and pass it over. And I'm looking forward to the subsequent progress this project will take... :D

I'm so excited...

Hi ilmenator,

thank you so much for making this file available! Think it would be of great help on our way to more expanded memory on our SY's.

:P I was first downloading this file :P

Miks,

a bit more excited     ...

P.S. have an 'ascii'-look at hex: 0003e840h

Just found the same two 'misspellings' of the word 'Modulation' in the build-in SY99 test-program as they are in the original Yamaha IC111: two times there is stated 'Moduration' instead of 'Modulation' !!! Please have a look at adresss hex: 0005e3c0h and further. This can be easily corrected by overwriting with the correct letters by using a HEX-editor. After doing so (don't forget to save the file!) you'll have to write this 'new' file to the according eprom and swap with IC111 on your SY. Done this to my file, now it's correct... :D (but not yet on my SY ...)

So have you verified that the two files are actually different?

Saul will have to make that decision as well as actually put the file there, he is the admin. Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to get this information available.

They are different 'cuz the 'musitronics message' is contained in the file you attached to your post, on Yamahas ROM (IC111) there is not
As I wrote: have an 'ascii'-look at hex: 0003e840h :D

Glad to hear I have not been scammed with the ROM :D

I'll look into the design of an 8MB expansion and would be willing to help anyone working on this, but I have a few other projects that have higher priority, see for example the MIDIbox SCE.

Can you help with 4-6-8 layer PCB design and manufacturing to lodge a 88 TFBGA package plus some other components and connectors?
