Bargain Guitars

Unread post by balston11 » Wed Apr 12, 2017 4:19 pm

I have just seen on another forum a member has picked up a Yamaha Pacifica 921 for $100. It looks immaculate in Crimson Red. At a flea market where no doubt the seller thought it was just another cheap Pacifica. It made me think of what is the best deal I got on a guitar and I guess it must be my SA1200s which I bought from amusic shop who had it as a trade in. I think I paid around £150 in the late 90s. Obviously nothing like as spectacular a deal as the 921. Anyone had anything like that?

It's times like this..and ONLY times like this, that I wish I lived in the USA! There is always some incredible bargain to be had at a yard sale or similar. Over here in the UK even the junk is overpriced :(

I have had a few good deals over the years, mainly keyboards but nothing like $100 for a 921! That would probably be around the £500 mark over here..if you could find one of course.

Nearest thing I've seen for sale was a 904 on Ebay 2 years ago it went for £775, by the way the guy who bought the 921 for $100 tells us now it came witha hard case.

I've never found and bought a single guitar ridiculously cheap .....

From time to time, I made a bargain buying a "package" containing guitar, amp, gigbag, strap, stand, cables, pedals and tuner at a reasonable price.
Selling off all the other stuff, and keeping the guitar sometimes leaves the guitar dead cheap.

My cheapest guitar so far, turns out to be a Yamaha 120SD in natural wood finish, it ended up costing 60 Dkr, close to 6 pounds.
Since then I sold it for 1000 Dkr. (still reasonable), and I will probably get another one next time it turns up.

Closest I came was an SGV for 199 bucks, The (fairly) local shop had it posted on their website with something like" what is this thing" I drove right up and grabbed it. They are kind of Gibson Fender snobs.

There's currently a 912j for sale on ebay UK starting at £250 I would pay that in a flash if it wasn't collection in person from Stockton on Tees too far for me to collect.

It happens a lot for me. I see something nice, get all excited then see strictly collection only. @#*? I live too far from anywhere.

Never understood what is so difficult about sending a guitar or keyboard to someone. I had done it loads of times and that is how to sell something.
